Study Skills Workshop

A successful exam preparation/study tips workshop was delivered by Peer Leaders at Bendale BTI to all the grade nines in January. The workshop was designed by Trinity’s Ayshia Degia and Alain Joubert. We had a great day at Bendale! Best wishes to everyone who wrote exams this semester.

Peer Mentoring and Bullying

Mentoring work on bullying was carried out at Victoria Village PS in January. The grade five Peer Leaders visited classrooms of students in grades one through four. Great Job Peer Leaders!

Thank You

Our thanks to Superintendent Uton Robinson for inviting us to address his Family of Schools regarding our programs in January!

As is readily apparent, artists
come in all shapes and sizes,
ethnicities and gender,
media and philosophies.

All pursue beauty – beauty in coherence,
beauty in meaning, beauty in shape –

all produce a product – and when that product is a poem or novel, a painting or installation, a symphony or song; we recognize the art process immediately, and often equate the art process with its product.

But the meaning of art lies in the moment
of relationship between product and witness

and seeing art process and art product as the same
obscures the actuality of art in the moment of relationship

Theatre straddles this world of art
as product and art

as a spirit of relationship and encounter

with one foot firmly in the world
of production, of published text

but the other just as firmly
in the world of spirit.

At Trinity we are theatre artists, evolving a new personal art practice where the emphasis is on creating the conditions for this living encounter.

We both began in the world of art as production

  • Alan trained at the Gate Theatre in Dublin, co-founded Theatre Compact in Toronto on his return from Ireland and was an assistant professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts Theatre Program at York University.

  • Sandra began with an Honours Degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts Visual Arts Program at York University. Prior to joining Trinity Theatre in 1982, she worked at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival as a costumer, as well as a freelance designer, decorator, and painter for numerous Toronto theatre productions.

Moving theatre beyond theatre
the emphasis moves from creating a stage product

to social development in workplaces and public education

We evolved the art practice

  • Alan and Sandra have trained in conflict resolution, cognitive and drama therapy

enabling the development of resilience
and personal balance through self awareness

between the social emotional sides of one’s character

and one’s individual behaviours and encounters
